Josoor Institute Opens Registration for Three New Professional Development Workshops

07 August 2016

Josoor Institute, a centre of excellence for the sports and events industries, inspired and developed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), launches three new professional development workshops. These workshops will be delivered in conjunction with the fifth block of the ongoing professional certificate and diploma programmes (C&D) on Football and Sports Management (FSM) and Major Events Management (MEM).

The workshops, which encourage sports and events industries enthusiasts to upskill their career will take place on 21 – 22 August at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The topics for these workshops include ‘Advanced Professional Practice in the Events Industry’, ‘Human Resource Management in the Major Events Industry’ and ‘Introduction to Football and Sport Finances’. The new workshops are developed and delivered in partnership with Georgetown University, University of Liverpool and Leeds Beckett University.

Speaking about the creation of the new workshops, Mushtaq Al Waeli, Executive Director (acting) of Josoor Institute said: “We have witnessed an increased demand for the C&D programmes and so we have designed these new modules to cater to the sports and events industries enthusiasts who cannot commit to the full 18-month programme. The three professional development workshops present a unique learning opportunity, for professionals working in or having a desire to work in sports and major events management industries to get a feel of the C&D experience but in a shorter and more packed module.”

The new workshops will equip delegates with the knowledge and the necessary tools to manage people and events, analyse the financial status of the sports industry and apply professional practices in the events industry. The 'Advanced Professional Practice in the Events Industry’ workshop is ideal for delegates looking to grow their understanding of the events and management industries. The workshop combines theoretical concepts with practical applications using real world case examples. The ‘Human Resource Management in the Major Events Industry’ workshop will explore the nature and structure of the workforce in international events. Delegates will dive into best practices of HR management from recruitment to selection to training event personnel. The ‘Introduction to Football and Sport Finances’ workshop will look at the financial tools that executives use to run sport businesses. The workshop will examine renowned financial management case studies and draw on the best practices used in international sports organisations.

Interested delegates are encouraged to visit Josoor Institute’s website on www.josoorinstitute.qa to learn more and register for the professional development workshops. Delegates will receive a 20% discount if they enrol before 20 August 2016, in addition a scholarship is also available for students.
